I don't get it. It was the open D string blues and then started being more picky about the radius, now it's switched.

So a specific example is every bass will rattle when striking the open A with juice, but the other 3 strings don't at all. It's higher than the other strings already.

The radius is 9.5 and the G/E string are spec. Putting more relief helps, but doesn't solve the problem.

Now, this is a P-bass, a J-bass AND a MM. So it has to be something I'm doing wrong.

Thoughts? (other than take it to a pro  )

Forgot to mention the gauge, EB 45-100. Now a thought was going 45-105 but I hate spending 20 bucks to experiment with that.

A partial clue: It appears I had my A string wrapped high. Wound it down re-crimped so that I could get more windings and it helped a tad.

They don't have to now that Fender has gone to fluted tuners on their American Professional and American Elite series.

For all other basses take it to a competent luthier or technician. Someone that has expertise in custom slotting nuts. Get your action set at the nut; frets checked for level (and leveled if needed), and total pro set up to include truss rod adjustment for proper neck relief and then finally bridge adjustment for a good clean action and intonation. Adjust pickup(s) for sweet spot and string-to-string evenness of volume.
If you haven't done all of this, do it.
