Put some new pups in the P today and not sure if, but what I did notice is the one capacitor says "ic 5032" and a google seems to come up empty. Are they the same thing?

These pups seem a little dull.

Not sure at this point in time to confer with SD and see if maybe they just are not my thing (21 days I think they allow) or what.

5032 mean noting in capacitance, you should fin another number like 473 K
On "standard" guitar wiring, this cap is only for tone if your pot are turn full counter clockwise. Full clockwise tone cap is not in use.
You may have the wrong pots value , did you replace it ?
Mistake in wiring ?
Or wrong pickups set up or ....?

More information are needed ; pickups model , pots values,

On American precision Bass, ( wich one do you have ? ) pots are 250 k

That's just it, it doesn't say. I'm guessing it's the right one though. Was listening to some recent parts I made with the old pups and they are "clearer" but necessarily sound "better"

Pickups are always a crap-shoot with me. It's kinda irritating because it's spend and hope

I'm guessing the cap says "IC503Z", and that's a .050 cap.
Which is the cap most SD wiring diagrams use.

That cap's stamping is not IC 5032 but instead is IC 503Z. This is a small ceramic disc capacitor made by Xicon and bought by Fender to use as an original part on both USA and MIM instruments. Fender even sells them as a genuine Fender part. It is a modern production 100 volt ceramic disc tone cap with a stated value of .05uf. You never know a capacitor's actual capacitance until you check it out of circuit on a capacitance meter though. Different cap types have different tolerance ranges with ceramic capacitors having the largest tolerance tending to run about plus or minus 20%. These are essentially modern production ceramic caps with a vintage stated value of 0.05uf instead of the more commonly seen .047uf stamped value on other contemporary ceramic disc caps. In reality 0.05 and 0.47uf caps are so close as to make no real difference when the tolerance factor is taken into account, however Fender wanted caps specified .05uf so they would appear more vintage-like. So far as I know these are the only .05uf ceramic discs being produced.

To me these modern production caps pale in tonal comparison to a true vintage ceramic disc cap which is much larger being about the size of a dime. Prior to using these Fender was using a green "Chicklet" Poly cap. To other people as long as the value is correct they could care less. Old ceramic disc caps stamped RMC or with a "D" inside a circle sound better to me regardless of whether they are stamped .047 or .05. as they have more character.

You did not state what SD Pickup pair you installed. It would be good to know. Also good to know is your pot values or if you changed them.

It is crucial to get the wiring correct. Frequently SD schematics are pictured from the FRONT of the pickguard looking BACK instead of from the back of the controls looking toward the pickguard which can lead you to wire it backwards! Make sure you did not do something like that.

I have never been disappointed in new SD USA made Precision pickups. But in any mass produced item you can get a dud. It is also possible there is a bad solder joint somewhere.

Update (sorry for taking so long)

I exchanged the pups for the "vintage" (these where the SPB-2 before)

TOTALLY my mistake. I simply wiffed, and now the vintage sound right inline with what I'd expect.

As for the other stuff, I'm waiting for Emerson to get the p-bass kit back in stock and will snag one. The Emerson I put in my strat is just terrific.

I think I'm going to get the jazz one too :)

Thanks for all the help!

(edit, I found one on reverb, woo hoo, ordered :) )

Sweetwater stocks the Emerson pre-wired electronics. Wonder if they are better than CTS pots with a Vitamin-Q. Do not see how. Also let me know if you are happy with the treble bleed. Never was crazy about treble bleed on a bass.

Sweetwater has not had the P-bass ones for a while. I put in for the "contact when in" a while ago but no cigar.

And last weekend they had a sale on Emerson

Anyways, I'll let cha know if anything is earth-shattering.

So, I'd say it was a reasonable investment.

What I don't know is if the Emerson is enhancing the harmonics or if it's the EB flatwounds (strange strings) but I've never had a p-bass that I could do Jaco stuff with  (well, I'm exaggerating a tad)
