Well 1 year ago today I got my first American Precision (brand new), and a brand new Fender Rumble 200 combo. After fitting a set of Fender straplocks & Fender 9050L flatwound strings (which have been on almost 1 yr), I think it's time for a quick report.

My 2014 American Standard Precision has been a great bass to own & play from day 1. Apart from the strings & strap pins, there is nothing I would change on this bass or swap. Everything on this bass to me seems right, from the thicker headstock and the tuners which even now are as smooth and responsive as they were a year ago. The maple neck I have grown to really love. it fits in my hand comfortably, and feels great with no rough edges (and rolled edges), & I am really happy with the Posiflex rod system. As even though I have put light flatwound strings on, the neck has never needed tweeking and feels sturdy & solid.
The Custom Shop pickups sound amazing, everytime I plug the bass in I love the sound I get from it.
The body is well made and also a nice weight, and the paint work is flawless (Olympic White for me) & both the volume and tone controls are still silky smooth. Finally the dual string Hi-Mass bridge which for me is a great piece of engineering, not only does it look good and is very solid, you have the choice of string through or top load. Finally I even like the hard case that the bass came in, and all the case candy is still inside untouched since I took a picture of it. Must have a look at it again one day.

My Rumble 200 Combo what an amazing amp for the money. Sometimes I forget it's light weight of only 39lbs, I am a big fan of 15" speakers so there was no other choice of combo for me. I have said it before my favourite feature on this combo is the vintage push button. That pushed in and my Precision (with flats), makes me smile everytime I use it. On the Rumble thread on TB there is a Rumble combo that has, blackface knobs and logo & it looks good so I may go down this route.

I love owning these & see no reason to ever change, my original thought of 1 pickup, 1 volume & 1 tone, I feel stronger about it now than when I said it. It really is all I need. And to everyone who helped with my flatwound thread, I won't be going back to roundwounds on this bass. It sounds so much better with flats on it and they feel nicer on my fingers. I have become a real Fender fanboy through owning this bass & amp, and also finding this forum and all friendly members who have helped me with various questions that I have had since I joined thank you.
It has been a blast 8)

I saw the knobs change out you are referring to on TB. I liked them myself. I'm with you too on the smooth feel of The Am. Std. Precision. I'm into mine as well. Bravo, for your choice of your Precision. 8)

Wow, it's been a year already? I remember when you first got your set up. That's cool that you're happy with it. It does look like it's a nice one. 8)

Thank you Gentlemen it was the pictures of your Olympic White Precision, that persuaded me to get that colour & neck type so thank you Mr.Nylon. :)
Yes Paul it's frighting how quickly the year has gone, and I'm still happy with the choice I made with my setup. :D

I'm glad you liked what you saw in mine. The Fender Olympic White / Maple combination has been a favorite of mine, since I first saw one of Hendrix's Strats with that look.

I had forgotten about Hendrix's white Strat, that always was a nice looking guitar.

Thanks linnin the strange thing is that I started on a Precision copy, only to end up with a genuine Fender Precision  .

Hey Paul, wasn't it about the same time you did your set up too?

Have you played any gigs with this amp? Were you just as pleased with the performance?

Well, it's been a year since I've been here under this account, but I had acquired the Orange set up a while before that. Now I'm trying to sell that head and I want to buy a Rumble 500 combo. It's about half the weight of the 350 combo, which after hauling that combo up and down the stairs for the radio show we did, sounds quite appealing. I'll still keep the 350 as back up, I think. It is an excellent amp, even though it's a little heavy.

The third generation Rumble 500 is a decent combo to work with. A good move to keep the 350 as a backup too.

I think it's a good idea to have a spare amp if you can. You never know when you might need it.

Nice report. I have been looking at that amp. I like the black face, and I like the top facing controls. My play around amps are 2 Rumble 100 combos, and a 50 Crate. They all fit their purposes very well, and I am unsure I want to sell one to get the new version just for looks and control access, but you have sure given me something to think about.

Also, I am thinking if the new 200 will fill a room a bit better, it would save me hauling my SB300 to medium rooms when there is a house furnished PA.

I won't even comment on the Precision....no need to. Doesn't get much better, ever.

Would you say that the Precision is your main go to bass out of all of them?
