Hi all,

Long story short........

Went to a yard sale in 1995 and found a P Bass in pieces and painted with regular house paint. paid $5 and took it home and sanded it back to wood and put it back together.

Its an oddball of parts (It has a brass scratch plate) and it looks like someone has hacked into the body to do something with pickups. Also, the nut is brass and end mounted? There are puttied up holes where there used to be a pickup and bridge guard removed, and a bridge pickup that does not look like it belongs at all. so odd....

Regardless of the result, it plays and sounds awesome.

Pictures on my google drive below.... any info would be appreciated, its been driving me nuts for 20 years now.

Cheers.

Yeah, well, when I first had it a mate took it to a music shop (Back in 95 when the interwebs were not so great for research) and they couldn't identify it and they said it might be a really early model.

But it sounded good so I've been using it for years and never really worried, but the question has always been in the back of my mind. Still sounds good, I'm still happy.

Thanks for the response

Most guys in a guitar shop are not very qualified.

Amps, guitars and bass sound good most of the time when play alone.
Side by side or A/B test , it is another story.

They generally know more about their smart phone or the odds-on favorite to win the final season of American Idol than they do about a vintage piece of gear.
