LOL! :D

Hey, on the bright side, my basses are gathering interest more than any of my retirement accounts! But yes, guilty as charged. I have a few, and have been known to buy one just because of the grain in the wood. Thinking about starting BGA, Bass Gas Anonymous.

I always tell my bride to look at the bright side, it could be muscle cars.

I used to "scratch that itch" by collecting Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint die-cast cars.

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore......

That, my friend, is a beauty, which I hope you still have. My "claim to fame" was a 66 SS 375, solids, I am guessing yours is a 70 +/- one year, I do not keep up. Believe it or not, I had a Dual Showman amp with two, 2x15 JBL cabs, and it all fit in that car. One cab and amp in the trunk (and what can you put in a trunk today?) and one cab on the back seat.

Going way off topic - those were some great days. I look back at my teens with nothing but smiles. Of course I have heart disease, cancer, etc. from the way I treated my body....but OMG, those were fun times.

Apologies for taking a personal retrospective liberty there.

Take all you want, sir -- you've earned it.

My current automotive obsession is a '69, built at Baltimore about six months before they faked the moon landings. I don't know about this particular car but I had a Butternut Yellow '67 SS396 whose trunk would accommodate a small-box 2 x 15 Showman cab. Cars had huge trunks back then.

The 396 was a great engine, my 396/375hp was the black series that some said were actually more like 400 or even 425. Mine was bored at 402 with high compression Hastings rings. At that time I lived in Wisconsin, northern USA, so when you started it up, you had to listen to lifter clatter for awhile, but that puppy would fly. Amazingly enough, I have only had one speeding ticket in my life, and it was with that car. I will not describe further because I do not want to encourage others to be that stupid. But yes....it was that fast. It had two Holly dual feed fours on it, so cruising, it used a single deuce. Throttled, it would empty the tank. But, to keep this conversation legal, I always got my Fender Precision Bass to the gig on time.

Any more and we should take this offline. But I am smiling. Thank you.

That brings back memories for me too. One of my old friends had one of those. 1969 SS396, Olive green and convertible top. These have always been my most favorite cars, even more than the Corvette, except the early 60's models.

Congrats Arjay. That's a beautiful car.

No problems here bro. I got just as excited seeing your car as I do seeing a new bass, maybe even more.
I enjoyed hearing the stories you guys shared too. 8)
