Thanks Jerry. I missed this one at auction, long sad story, and ended up buying it from the auction buyer at a price that gave him a nice profit, but still reasonable IMO. (maybe for the same price I would have paid had I been able to bid against him until conclusion, who knows)

Now I have to find the Blue Flower. Hopefully someone reading this post will know where one is hidden.

Geez that looks familiar......!

Back in late '68 our bass player ordered one of those -- IIRC it arrived sometime in the spring of 1969.

Smooth looking specimen, Steve!

Sarigul, yes, it is supposed to be a 68, but all I have done is unpacked it...won't have a chance to authenticate before Sunday - but both the auction house and the seller have, so I feel pretty comfortable.

Arjay! Is that you! Why is it I think neither you or the bass look like that anymore? Great pic!! Fond memories, I would assume. So cool.

Not me, it's our bassist Mark.

Haven't seen him in a ¢oon's age, not sure what he looks like now.

Pretty cool bass. 8) The closest I ever came close to one of those was those Japanese made reissues that came out I think in the 90's? I had some GAS for those I remember back then.

I have enjoyed it for a few days, but now it is time to put it away for a bit, and pull out another. Of interest, a friend I have made in Germany also custom makes straps, and he is making one to match the paisley bass. I will post pics when I get it.

Still looking for a Blue Flower 68 for my annual Christmas present to myself. If you know where one is hiding, please let me know.

I've seen 6-string Teles and Strats in the blue flower finish but I don't believe I've ever encountered a Tele Bass in that color. Do they actually exist?

Yes, they exist, in fact I have missed two in the last couple weeks, but they are way more rare that the pp. One I knew I missed, was not paying attention, in the UK. The other was "oh, I just sold mine two months ago" when my inquiry reached the owner. There is a guy who has both in almost unplayed condition. I do not know him. The seller that handled the transaction seven years ago sent me a pic. Wow. I know of two others that are NFS. But that is it, and I am working this one pretty hard.

Of possible interest, and to be honest, I never had a first edition Tele before. I have a pair of 72s that I have posted. I have always heard that the original single coils sounded better than the first humbuckers. Based on mine, I cannot agree. I like my 72s better. But, my guess is it is this bass, not the series. It sounds fine, but not as good as my 51 or 52 precision, and not as good as my second gen Teles. It should sound similar to my early Ps, since it is a reissue, so maybe something is amiss inside. I have not had it open yet. Don't get me wrong, it does sounds very nice, but I probably have six hours on it and it is not a tonal "wow".
