I am interested in the Fender Deluxe PJ Bass. Anyone have any experience with them? Anyone switch out the roundwounds and put on flats?

Thanks.

I actually liked the stock strings...very nice tone despite what some people claim...and I'm no fan of roundwounds.
However, I had a set of LaBella Gold Tapewounds on another Fender bass and they were incredible, so I put them on my Deluxe PJ.
Other than D'Addario tapewounds, my choice for my Dean Exotica acoustic bass, I'll never buy any other strings. The gold tapewounds look good, feel good, and sound great. Everyone is raving about the new Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats but I've never heard about so many strings breaking as with the EBs and they recommend a non-traditional way to install them, to boot!
The LaBella Golds are a bit of a bass secret, and that's a good thing because I'd prefer that only an elite handful of bassists know just how good they are!
