I've heard he actually had a lot of Strats, like buy several at a time, give them away, or whatever. I don't even know if he even had one main guitar that he had for the most part.

His main two guitars I saw him with were, a Fender Strat, and a Gibson SG.

I've seen pictures of him with a Gibson Flying V, too. He was also photographed jamming in a studio with a Hagstrom 8-string bass. He (or Noel Redding) used that on some tracks, like "Spanish Castle Magic."

Here's an article about the Hagstrom, where I got the pic.

Interesting about the Hagstrom 8 string. Hagstrom basses were fine, but most of them were like the weight of ship anchors.
He played bass for Leslie West in a studio session once. I've seen photos of Jimi with a few different types of guitars. I guess that's why I deem JMH The Master.
Leslie West played on a track or two with The Who, on the Who's Next album. Leslie always liked, and respected Townsend's style, and especially his trade mark power cords. That's what really grabbed me hard, when i first heard Mountain's Never In My Life. The raw power unleashed.

I never knew about a lot of that. Speaking of Leslie West, I remember the last time I'd been to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut (they have concert venues there, so I did just go for gambling,) there is a Hard Rock Cafe there, and they had some display case windows in the walls in the hallways outside of the entrance to it, and they had his Les Paul Junior (I think that was the model) displayed, beside some sort of stage outfits for somebody. Maybe him, or Felix, I don't remember. I just remember seeing the guitar. They had a bunch of stuff like that for different people displayed.

That's great! At my first Mountain concert, I stood in front of a sound column. I mean three feet in front of it. Then I looked up, and saw I was only 7 - 8 feet away from Leslie West. It was great. You know as well as I do about having good shows, and off shows, but they were so tight, and didn't miss a lick. I will never forget their opening song, "Never In Ny Life". I heard nothing but Mountain in my head for almost two days.

I imagine as loud as they were, your ears must have been ringing for a couple of days, too. :P

Yeah,...... that's an under statement. That was for me a real high point.

Would you say that's your favorite band?

No two ways about it. MOUNTAIN! I have other favorite bands, but not like seeing Mountain live.

How many times did you get to see them?

Seven times. Two times in front of the stage, and five times backstage.

I acted as an unofficial go between on some stage issues running in their favor. I was glad to help.
