You know, I've never been to St. Augustine, that I remember, unless my parent took me there as a little kid, or passing though, which was probably the case. Most of the time, I stuck around various places on the west coast of Florida, although I have stayed a a few days in Jacksonville, as a kid, and used to go to Daytona Beach with my family, because they had friends that lived there. I did stay a few days in Fort Lauderdale, back in the mid 90's. I remember it being hot as hell, since it was in the summer time, and a lot hotter than it was in St. Pete.

St. Augustine is just under 40 miles south of Jacksonville.

I'll have to dust off this thread. I'm going to be acquiring a SPECIAL EDITION DELUXE PJ PRECISION / SEA FOAM PEARL tomorrow. I post pics when I'm able to.

I picked it up today. It sounds good, and the action on it is fine also. The frets on it are dressed fine as well.

Very cool. 8) It's good to hear that it's put together well.

From what I've seen the Fender Special Edition Deluxe PJ Bass, the Roger Waters Precision, and the Mustang are some of the nicer MIM's I've been in contact with. MIM's are there in QC lately.

That's good to know. I did obscurely mentioned this on a thread in the lounge section, but there's one particular Precision bass that I've spotted I thought was pretty cool, even though it doesn't have a Jazz neck. I've been thinking about it since you've got the Precision thing going again. It has two things I'm rather keen on, gold hardware, and matching paint on headstock.

https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric- ... 00306.html

It's $799.99, though. If I could get rid of all my crap and do that, I would. I've been thinking about this, anyway. Ever since I got the Ampeg, it's kind of been like a wake up call, because of how it sounds and what I'd really want to play through it. I still haven't played the Squier Jazz and the Peavey through it yet, though. I wasn't too thrilled with how the violin bass sounded, and the Ibanez, but the Ibanez needs an adjustment, so I shouldn't be too harsh to judge it, I suppose. It's like I have a really nice amp, and I'd like to make sure the bass matches up with that.

The Special Edition Deluxe PJ is $899. I know what you’re talking about with the $799. price tag. And of coarse that’s without a gig bag @ $900. I don’t know why the Roger Waters Precision comes with a deluxe gig bag for just under the price of the Spl. Edition Deluxe.

I remember about 12 years ago, the Fender Standard basses came with a gig bag. It was a piece of crap, though. I had one when I got a Standard Precision at the time, and the zippers crumbled off of it, and it became useless. I think I did have it for a year at least, before it happened, but still. I kept it, but traded in the P Bass for the Peavey. Maybe in retrospect, I should have kept the P, but the issue I had with it at the time, is the fretboard dried out, and I got fret end spurs. I didn't know how, and didn't have the means to fix that, like I do now, so obviously that was an issue that pissed me off.

That's the one thing that annoys me with Fender, and living in this climate, but I guess that's an issue with rosewood boards. I've had to fix my Squier Jazz, the Squier Precision I sold, and the violin bass. I've never had an issue with the Ibanez CT bass, or the Fender P Bass Lyte, though. Maybe they also have had better fret jobs on them, or just luck. I didn't have any issue with the Peavey, either. It has a maple board, though. Oddly enough, so far not the Ibanez short scale, but it's not rosewood, it's Jatoba, which might not dry out and shrink like the rosewood.

I looked at the P-Bass again that I linked to you in my other post, and it does come with a gig bag, and it does have a rosewood board, which is interesting. Maybe because it's made in Japan, they got away with using that wood again, I have no idea.

Japan gets away with a lot of things. They just do it, and don't look round to see if anyones watching. And if they are watching, the don't give a damn. So if it's Rosewood, that's SUPER!!! That would be a tough Fender. I have no problem with a non MIA Fender, as well as it's made ok. I have two MIM's that are ROAD REX APPROVED!!! And then some. I'm saying that because, I had the newer MIA Fretless a year or so ago that had one of the more crappy fretboards on it.

I remember that you had one of those. What didn't you like about it, the feel?

I didn't like the poor piece of Rosewood for starters, and the tool marks, and divots in the wood topped that off.
