Maybe they had a lot of old tuners on stock?

Current Schaller tuners (which is the only German guitar part maker I can think of) are definitely not marked "Made in Western Germany".

I would pick W. German steel gears over Japanese, Chinese or even Amerian gears.
No joke, it's usually good stuff, even if they are old stock.

@roadie... Yes I don't mind. I like German products... They certainly are know for building stuff strong... What do you suppose? Fender just kept these in stock for all these years?

The F tuners are fairly limited production for Schaller; they might not have bothered to change the stamping until well into the 1990s. Plus I'm sure that Fender does stockpile them, but it is kind of odd to see "W Germany" 25 years after the reunification.

Would it be possible they made the Beck model just to git rid of the old stock..?
But seriously, Fender has always been known to use old parts - the neck and body on a guitar can be years apart.
This seems a bit overdoing it, though - have you asked Fender?

(And PS, I support the Schaller identification; their tuners had that exact MADE IN W GERMANY stamp. Let's see if they find room to fit "100% Made in Germany" on the future tuner models...)

I contacted fender last week. i talked to some guy and he had no idea as to why... he NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THE BECK MUSTANG lol........ HE WAS QUESTIONING THE AUTHENTICITY of the guitar because he never heard of it before... what a goon lol. so i did more research... i found a website that is selling these tuners... i asked the guy where they were made and he saw theyre stamped made in W. Germany.
