Have a 1969 3/4 Mustang (not competition) that my husband bought 2nd hand a few years ago. The guy he bought it off had a custom paint job doing professionally to a blue colour (although we don't know what the original colour was) we are looking to sell it and have no idea of a value for it. One of the keys is bent and been fixed with putty (so basially needs to be replaced) all the parts are original but we cant find anything to compare it to online, we dont have the original case.
Thanks for your help!
Can supply pics don't know how to do it via the forum

Pic posting is a little tricky, but it should work with these instructions: Nutter's Quick Start Guide
On authenticating and dating old Mustangs, the stamps/markings in the neck pocket are a good source of info. Otherwise, pics of the whole guitar front and back and details from "everywhere" usually produce best results.

I'll wait for those before giving any numbers for the value - the key factor of course is, if it's a real vintage US Fender. Only after that other factors come along.
How much did your hubby pay for it those few years ago?

Thanks for the reply and help! My husband bought it in South Africa 15+ years ago off a guy who had had it since new and played it when he was in a band over there and it has been stored by his parents and we brought it back to the UK on our recent trip over

OK, lets go. 1, 2, 3, 4 strings... hey, that's a Mustang bass

You'll probably get better answers from the wizards of the forum's bass department (just noticed you posted there, too).
But to start, it looks the real deal. The refin drops the price really dramatically from the figures asked for instruments in original condition.
On the tuning peg: do not replace it - a broken original is better than a replacement in perfect working condition.
And since it's a short scale bass, a lot depends on finding the right buyer.
To throw in some numbers as a very wild guess: in the UK/Europe area I'd guess anything from 500£ to 1000£ (700€ to 1400€), plus it may take a while to sell the bass.

Edit: (In case this still matters to anyone) Forum members with a lot better knowledge on basses than me have dropped the estimate price quite significantly on the bass forum - as well as pointed out that's a very modded bass.
Check viewtopic.php?f=11&t=99812 for future developments.

That's one very modified Mustang bass, and the modifications have not been done particularly well.
The value of the instrument as it stands would not be all that great.
The only way of getting a good price for it is if the instrument has any provenance, this is if it was regularly played by someone famous.
