Now that I've had this guitar for bit, and done some more playing on it, I have to say:

Good job, Fender- this guitar is awesome! It just replaced my 50s Tribute SG as my #1.

It feels great, plays really well, and sounds even better. The surf green color really looks good, too. I love it clean, and slightly crunchy, and when you pour on the gain, it displays a giant set of cojones! The three pickup choices give you three very different, and quite distinctive sounds. My favorite is still the middle position, with that chimy, plinky sound- but I'm liking the bridge position more and more.

Give this one a try, if you find one- they're brilliant guitars! Not surprising they're always sold out around here!

I tried one and it was unbelievable. I really liked it. It was a tad lighter than my Jazzmaster. Perfectly balanced. I would put the neck in the top 10 of any Fender i have played. This guitar was out of the box and hung on the wall, it was setup the way it left the factory. Whammy bar was "Somewhere In The Back Room" Why do they do that. The pickups were pretty bright, but years ago I noticed on a 1950s Fender Steel guitar, the Jazzmasterish pickups were quite a distance from the strings. On my jazzmaster I lowered the pickups much more than I would do on ANY guitar and it evened up and leveled out the tone. I took the Steel Guitar Setup To Mine. Works great.
I am really tempted to buy this Jazzmaster. May have a gig with a Surf Band, Would Be Handy To Have A Backup :D The Jazzmaster is the only Fender i do not have muliples of 8)
