Hi All,

Firstly! I'm a newbie to this forum so please be gentle with me.
I've just purchased a Johnny Marr Jaguar in Metallic KO, I purchased this as an ex demo item so it has a few chips/dings here and there. I got it for a cracking price too! £300 plus off the original retail price.
My first impressions after playing it are that's it's a stunning guitar, it has great comfortable neck and body and a lovely low action no buzz. I'm very pleased with it so far and it seems to have been set up quite well.

I've just got a couple of quickies regarding the jag just to put my mind at ease really! being that it was an ex-demo and slightly reliced when I purchased it.

1. Can someone give me a quick run through/understanding of the tremloc button/switch (sorry! I'm normally a tele player) I couldn't find any relevant info on the tremloc switch with the case candy.

2. Regarding the trem arm how far is is supposed to flex if this makes sense? e.g is it supposed to touch the pickguard?

3. When I bend the top E string I get a slight ping/click noise (I don't think it's coming from the bridge) might either be at the nut or string tree?

4. last one!! the bottom E string is resting directly on top of one of the large cross head screws of the tremolo unit (again hope this makes sense) is this right?

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated!

1. Check this page: webrocker.de Jag/JM tremolo
2. You mean flex to the pickguard when you bend it (=use the trem)? Well, I guess that after you've done the setup according to the link (see also the "goodies" department), you get the hang of it. BTW, this is a good trem system, but not a dive bomb monster - IMHO.
3. Might be either one (those are the "usual suspects"). During the setup, check the nut slots and lube all contact points + the trem.
4. By "resting" do you mean touching? It should IMHO&E(xperience) not touch the screws. If the action is right, the guitar might benefit from shimming the neck, so you could raise the bridge.

It's a helluva nice guitar with that Iggy&Stooges color. Might be good to let a pro set it up for this first time - you'd have the full potential in use, and it's a lot easier to maintain a good setup than to produce one.
