I went to target one day and they had a box with a amp, strap, picks, and a tunner in it. it also had a fender starcaster. I had never heard of a starcaster. but with the prise of $200 for all that stuff i think it's a good deal. here are my 2 questions. have you heard of a starcaster :?: If so on a scale from 1 to 10 how good is it over all :?:

I think starcasters are great platforms for mods if you are into it....also the affinity series from squire, cant beat their quality for that price

I bought a Starcaster back about 4years ago, and it still works really well!
though, I plan on selling it now, to purchase a newer Guitar, but if your a beginner at guitar I'd recommend it.

Well, there was the old 70's Semi-Hollow called the Starcaster.

But I have one like what you're referring to. Great guitar for 100 bucks, just upgrade the amp and strap.
It's just a strat-based budget guitar, but you can gig it and it'll sound decent.
It's a real easy guitar to work on too.
I find it also performs better without pickup covers.

I got one but I don't like it. I'm getting a REAL Fender Stratocaster Standard soon. Now that's a guitar.

I went to Target and got the Starcaster so I could learn how to play on it. I'm pleased with the sound so far. Once I get good at it I'll upgrade.

You might as well settle for one of the Squier affinity guitars. They're about $250 without the amp, but from what I understand, they're halfway decent and good for modding.

Good job on finding a real Starcaster! If I had the bucks to deal with, I'd get me a Starcaster, a Coronado and a Fender XII. Heck, maybe even a Duo-Sonic, just becase.

For the same price...Better something good and used than a new piece of junk!!! Can find something much better at a pawn shop for the same money. If it shreds your fingertips up and doesn't sound good, you aren't going to stick with it.
