I am currently playing a squire mustang and wanted to add some extra punch to it. It came equipd with two single coil pick ups and two three way switches for fade canceling and tremolo.
Now, for the idea that I have, I want add a humbucker in the middle of the these two single coils as a bridge pickup and have it linked to a mid range boost toggle switch.
I'm not sure what that switch is called but it can be pushed up or down or centered??
And help is very appreciated thank you!!

My suggestion is to start by replacing the bridge pickup with a single coil sized humbucker.
That mod is cheap, relatively easy and will teach you a bit of modding (especially soldering).
And there are a lot of pickups to choose from, depending on how hot you want to go.
BTW, it's "Squier".

If you seriously play guitar , you won't keep a Squier long time , don't invest too much money you 'll loose it when you sell it .

That Squier cost probably under €400/$500, so the costs of the hobby won't be unbearable even if the OP sells it someday :
BTW and IMHO, a lot more players grow out of Squiers financially than musically.
