Hey guys, ive been really craving a new guitar lately. I already own an american tele but i have been really liking superstrat designs (i.e. Ibanez RG) lately. I have been looking at some guitars and I came across the Fender Showmaster online. Can anyone attest to this guitar and how it plays? I have not had the chance to actually play one yet, and it seems very interesting to me. Thanks for the help!

The showmaster is a very good looking guitar. How do they play?

I got a showmaster (Korean Made) at first I was a little disappointed in it. It really needed som fretwork... bad. It is real sensitive to the changing weather, I think more so than any other guitar I have owned. After that, I think it is ok... the Seymour Duncans are nice to have, and I think it is a pretty versatile guitar. I have heard other people like them, it could just happen to be the one that I bought...

Maple neck Jacksons look amazing. And the black shark teeth inlays look way better than the pearloid ones.

Their only problem is the pointy headstock. :?

eh, it could be worse. that is a really fun guitar to play. you can do a lot of wild stuff with a floyd rose.

actually i think the jackson looks pretty awesome if you ask me... ive always been a fan of the whole superstrat style guitars (ie Jackson, Ibanez, ESP, Schecter.. etc..) I was just wondering how the showmaster stacked up compared to those

Never understood the point of the Showmaster. Looked like an unfinished thought to me: where were the Floyds (at least in later models)?

Hey, I happen to own a Fender Showmaster. This guitar plays great. The pickups in it are suited to anything from classic rock to Blues to Heavy Metal. The neck feels good and the combination of pickups in it give a variety of sounds. Its a great guitar and i would recomend that anyone who is looking for a super strat design should buy this guitar.

Hey everyone,

First time poster and owner of a Showmaster. Mine is the FAT-SSS. This is a very versatile guitar. I bought mine used from a guy who had replaced the stock Seymour Duncans with Seymour Cool Rails in the neck and middle positions and a Hot Rails in the bridge. The switch was replaced with a Switchcraft and the pickups were rewired by Joe Glaser (Nashville) to be coil-tappable. I have any tone I need with this set up. I have not played one stock but I love the neck and body style of this guitar and the finish is gorgeous. The smoked chrome hardware and graphite nut are really classy. I always get complements on this guitar anytime it comes out of the gig bag. I have seen the one pictured in this thread at Guitar Center so I would recommend just checking it out there if you can.

Hello everyone, I have had and do have some of the finest guitars ever made. This includes my Showmaster QMT HH. All I can say is antwhere I go, be it to jams, gigs, or the studio it is with me. I don't just buy a pretty face. Once you get the set up correct, this guitar is a monster that is a blast to play.

Yeah, I agree. It just seems like they went halfway to me. If I ever wanted a super strat I would go all out and get an Ibanez or Jackson or something like that.

I have a Korean Showmaster and for the money, they are good. For the first three months I loved it - couldn't believe it. After having setup to my action and string gauge preference, this guitar feels and plays as well as a friends PRS Custom 22. However, to my ears, the amplified sound is brittle when compared to other similar guitars. The Duncans are quality, but I think the cheaper wood robs you of critical tone elements.

I've heard some complain about the locking tuners, but to be honest, it hasn't been an issue for me. Mine continue to work just fine. Granted, I don't dive bomb, but I do quite a bit of string bending and moderate tremolo work, it holds it's tune all night long. Guitar is strung with 11- 49's.

The Showmaster is a very affordable, set-neck guitar that looks darn good and plays like a guitar worth much more. However, if tone is what you're after, you may not be completely satisfied.
