They have two seperate sets of PU selctions with VOL and TONE controls for both. On the bottom of a Jazzmaster there is a vol and a tone control and a three way switch. Flip the swicth up on the rythmn circut and there is no PU selection, just a VOL and TONE side-ways dial. That section is a bit 'tonier' (new word) and I am not sure which PU or if both is the work PU. Jagur doesn't have a three-way selector swith but has four combos of PU configuration.
I have a 1962 Jaguar and for those guitars they used 1Meg POTENTIOMETERS, the thing under the VOL and TONE control.
It's best to play one to understand their functions as these two guirtars are unique with this set-up
