Can someone please measure the distance from the bridge-end of the nut to the headstock-end of the first fret of their Jaguar and Mustang?

Then can you measure the distance from the bridge-end of the nut to the end of the fretboard on both models as well?

I'm trying to figure out if the distance between frets is really shorter on these short-scale guitars or if the fretboard is longer and the fret distance is about the same as a strat or tele. I'd also like to compare it to my Gibson Midtown Kalamazoo and I might sell that guitar if the fret distance is about the same as a Jaguar or Mustang.

thanks in advance

On different scale lengths, distances between frets are different. It's not a question of "adding" or "cutting" frets from a neck...
On the other hand, the positions are, as you say, "about the same" - so I'd say you won't get any real help from numbers (which also may be off, depending on the skills of the measurer...)

If you feel you need them, you can get the fret positions for different scale lenghts here: StewMac Fret Calculator
But better to play the guitars yourself, feel the differences - in addition to fret positions, there are the string tension issues etc.

It's all about
[scale lenght : 17.817] = 1st fret distance,
[(scale-1st fret distance) : 17.817] = 2nd fret distance
etc.

Thanks jmattis! Using that fret calculator made me realize that the 12th fret of all guitars is in the middle of the string length and going to be the same fret distance and size for every guitar of that scale length.

Those at the shortscale.org forum weren't so kind :(

I have a schecter 25.5" scale length, A Gibson LP tribute an a`94 MIJ `62 RI jaguar. The Les Paul is i think 24.75"(correct me if I am wrong) and the Jaguar is 24". The jaguar "feels" more like a les paul than a strat. hope this helps.
