Is Fender still making this. I had a 62 Jazzmaster when I was younger and would love to replace it with a new one. White with the tortoise shell pick guard U.S. Made. I was part of the American Vintage series? Anyone out there in Fender land know if these can stil be purchased or only special ordered through the custom shop? Any price information?

Search is your friend.

Fender only sells a 65 reissue. There are about 10 or 11 vintage and reissue 1962s on e-bay.

Fender-Japan also offered Jazzmaster re-issues -- an early '60s model and a 1966 (with the rosewood "tuxedo" fretboard). Not sure if they're currently available but they turn up often on Ebay. Very fine instruments.

I picked up this 1994 MIJ Jazzmaster 62 reissue last year which has very much become my "go to" Guitar.

Image

It had Lindy Fralin pickups put in. I put in a Mustang bridge and a Staytrem system like Johnny Marr's Jaguar. The finish on this guitar is unbelievably good. The Japanese Fenders are very well made, at least as good as US made Fenders. The only thing that lets them down is the electronics. The fit and finish is 100%.

Thanks. :)

I'm hoping to get cash tomorrow for a Tele Deluxe 72 Reissue I'm selling and then I'll be looking to acquire a 60s reissue Japanese Jaguar. I may have to go into the risky waters of eBay but I'll do what it takes to get one. They're very thin on the ground around here.

If I can get one that will complete my Fender set of Strat, Tele, Jazzmaster and Jaguar with only the Strat American made, all the rest coming from Japan.

Sounds like a nice "sweep" collection, TF.

We'll expect pics of course......
