I've recently purchased the red, white, and black version of the striped series. I'd like to replace the stock Floyd Rose with a Gotoh Floyd. Has anyone else done this? If so, is the Gotoh a direct replacement or did you have to make the route larger to accommodate it?

IMO I don't think you are going to agin anything by doing this. Essentially you are replacing one bridge for another with the same spec? I believe the bridge on the evh has the same spec as the Ping Floyd Rose Original, which is a good quality unit. If it was a Floyd Rose Special, then I'd say go for it :)

I've got an EVH USA Wolfgang and the Striped Series. The Floyd on the Wolfie feels so much better than SS. I'm fairly certain they aren't the same.

Here are some specs here:

http://www.floydrose.com/catalog/tremolos/6:1000-series/evh-bridge

Interesting to note that same unit is almost identical to the one found on the plus top standard Strat with locking Trem.

Here's the Gotoh unit but doesn't seem to have many specs

It seems they are fairly similar. However, you should check out the Floyd Rose custom shop options or the limited '84' series.. That would look pretty cool on your axe :)
