I've read that a Mustang bridge can be useful to keep the strings from poping out from a Jaguar/Jazzmaster bridge, but will it also stop the string buzz?

I have a Squier VM Jaguar with .11 strings. Some strings sound worse than others and tweaking with the "groove" it lies in only helps temporarily...

What cause string buzz ?

Wrong set up . Make a good set up, check neck bow and adjust truss rod if needed.

You may even need to change string gauge. I have got 11`s Flat wound and they feel like how 9`s usually feel. i put Mustang bridge on mine cos i got fed up with the bridge adjusting its self! i also put roller type string tree`s on too to try and keep extra tension on the strings. When i bought my Jag it was fitted with 9`s and the strings felt like elastic bands!!

All of the above, plus you might try increasing the neck angle with a shim in the neck pocket. You get more downforce on the strings, better angle over the saddles and usually improved tone.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with a Mustang/Mastery/Staytrem(...) bridge upgrade if you feel the need - but none of those won't alone be a cure, if the setup ain't perfect.
