I'm going to check this thing out tomorrow. The pics are kind of crappy, so I'm leaving judgement of condition until I see it in person.

Just wondering if there are definite signs that I should look out for to confirm it is a 2003 American made Jag.

Thanks

Unfortunately the only way to date a US Vintage Reissue is to pull the neck off and look for the penciled in date on the heal end, and it is not likely they will let you do that prior to sale. Might ask if they did and took any pictures when they did...just a guess, but can't hurt to ask.

It should have a V stamped serial number on the neck plate, but the numbers are kind of meaningless as they are not sequential.

+1

But even a properly formatted serial stamped on a neck plate is no guarantee as these can be readily replicated.

I went to check it out and was happy with what I saw. The pics didn't do it justice. It does have a few knocks, but I expect I'll add my own. I was able to take $200 off the asking price.

a better pic of the body

Olympic White with tortoise-shell......the very paradigm of a vintage surf guitar.

I love it!
