There already is the Modern Player JM double-humbucker version, black comes with maple fretboard:

The specs seem interesting, and at that price level a mod to a more traditional hardware wouldn't be a bad alternative.

I've been GASsing that for some time now, but not gotten 'round to buying one - at the moment I just can't put down my new but 50 year old Harmony archtop...

There was also a Limited Edition Jazzmaster Pro with a single Seymour Duncan JB-11 humbucker in the bridge, 2-point vintage-style Stratocaster bridge assembly and a 1-piece maple neck/fretboard with 22 frets.

This model is no longer into production.

Thanks for the picture of that maple necked Jazzmaster.
The Jazzmaster was the first Fender guitar with rosewood neck (though the prototypes had maple necks) in '58. There weren't many made with maple necks over the years!

I gotta admit, it looks foreign.

...And a Squier VintMod JM (2-tone sunburst or butterscotch blonde) with maple fretboard available in 2011... (The Frontline issue is on support section.)

So, it's been done but as o-owner said, not often. IMHO, they look great, but I'm a sucker for maple fretboards anyway.

+1

The CBS companies did a few Jaguars and Jazzmasters with maple necks featuring "tuxedo" cosmetics with black block inlays and binding.

Yeah, that '70s Jazz-bass-type maple neck on the Jazzmaster first showed up in the '70s.

I do
I HATE rosewood fretboards, Fender should do a Maple option on every guitar they do

This would not be the case for the Artist series.

Maple can be an option only if specified by the artist him(er)self.
