This showed up on our local CL for $500. Seller's ad says "Fender 12 String electric". This is the only picture they gave. I have no clue what guitar it is.

Yes, it's unknown and rare and electric and a 12 string.

What makes it vintage?

+1

I'd like to know what makes it Fender besides the 'Milli Vanilli' headstock decal.

Pickups scream cheap import... Not a Fender, just a $10 water slide on the headstock.... 12 String Fender Electrics had Stratocaster bodies, I believe anyway.

Recent ones did have the Strat body; the original "Fender Electric XII"s from the 1960s had an offset body similar to the Bass VI (and were somewhat similar to a Jazzmaster/Jaguar body). They also had a 12-string version of the Coronado. All I can think is that the guitar the OP posted was an off-brand someone was trying to make look vaguely like the Coronado 12 string:

The 12-string Coronado isn't currently into production, I've no idea about Fender's plans to launch a Modern Player reissue of the original in 2015.

The reissue - if released - will feature a conventional 12-string headstock to fit a standard case or gig bag as those "hockey paddle" Villager pegheads may require a special case to fit properly.
