A friend of me is is going to buy an acoustic guitar. She showed me some pictures of it, but I doubt about these. She doesn't know the model of it and I suspect this can be a fake. She lives too far away for me to join her when she buys it.

So what do you think about this guitar? Which model is this? Is is a real Fender anyway? The headstock and logo look suspicious.

Thank you.

The model number is in the paper tag inside the guitar - seen in pic#2, but the resolution is so low that it's not readable.
The pic of the headstock is somehow strange - the logo shines so overexposed I can't make anything of it. I'm not alarmed, but not impressed either.

Anyway, there's not much money to be made by faking this kind of Fender acoustics - this is not a high end model, anyway.
The main questions are, how much are they asking, and why do you suspect it's a fake?
A general rule: if in doubt, pass and wait for a better chance.

The price is 6000 philipine pesos (around $125), which is really a lot for my friend, so I want her to buy the best guitar she can have for that money.

The headstock shape differs from the ones I have seen and the Fender logo does have thickness, which I also haven't seen before, so this might be a specific model (or fake). I don't suspect that it is fake, but it might be. I really don't know. Fender acoustics is not exactly my expertise. :)

Can't comment on price level vs common standards of living in Philippines.

But globally speaking, 125$ (~100€) is reasonable for an electroacoustic.
The basic checks apply: it's in good working condition (tuners, truss rod and those electronics too), and plays & sounds OK.

On this particular guitar: the abalone bindings are nice, tuners look the same as in my campfire Fender, the neck also has bindings, and the "scalloped bracings" can be checked. This is not the absolute cheapest way to build a guitar, so those on the plus side.
I agree the logo looks "swollen", and the headstock shape seems a bit pointy, so these as minus side - of course those may be because of the photo.

If it was pointy because of the photo the tuners wouldn't be as round as they are.

She got the model number. It is FD90. Which isn't on the Fender website. Googling gives mostly philipine websites but also this one.

That one has the same model number but a different headstock.

OK.
I wonder, what would have been the price of that guitar without the fake logos and stickers..?
And: it seems that in some parts of the world that price difference is a cause to fake a guitar...

It would cost less of course. The brand Fender sells, people are paying more for a Fender. That is what the business of faking is about.
