Hello! Could you please help me identifying this Fender Japan Mustang?

The serial number is U001190. It has a matching headstock. Here're some pics:

Is there a way to tell if it's a 2010-2011 or 95-96 year? The seller says it's probably 2010-2011 from the looks of the finish, but I don't trust him based on that.

Many thanks.

P. S.

Overall, are these guitars any good ? I liked the samples, seems like these guitars have that bright, positive kind of sound I seek for. Unfortunately, I can't try this guitar before buying, so there's a risk. Any comments would be most welcome.

Some guitars come with a very dark sounding wood. For example I tried 3 different MIM Strats that were dark (both new and used, different years). I absolutely don't want to buy yet another dark sounding guitar!!! So if you have any experience with these guitars, please let me know.

Sorry, I didn't know the website is changing the addresses of the pictures.
Here, I've re-uploaded them:

The link you provided also says:
"Made in Japan U + 6 digits 2010-2011"

If it is write " made in japan" as we see on photo, it is a 2010-2011 guitar .

Matching headstock did not match very well with the body's color !!!!

Or it is a poor photo ?

Where did that serial number come from - it's blurred beyond recognition in the pic of the neck heel.
I'd do some additional checking before buying the guitar; see what's under the pickguard and in the neck pocket etc.

On those premises I'd say be extra careful. Of course, if the price is right the risk is worth taking.

As far as I understand, 95-96 instruments will have "made in japan" decal too. So maybe, a different font can tell something for those who know these instruments really well.

And to tell the truth I'm not a big fan of guitars with a matching headstock... But if it sounds good, I don't care.

Yeah, probably. Seems like a cheap camera...

Oh, the seller told it. :) I looked closely at the pic, seems correct.

Yeah, the price is very attractive, there will be no problem getting my money back if I don't like the guitar. But I'll be checking a few MG69 mustangs (various years) locally in a store before buying this one, so to be sure I like at least one of them.

Thanks for the tips! :)

hi,

I can't get the picture links to work, but the serial number tracks back to a Jag-Stang in Fiesta Red Rosewood fretboard from 6/20/1996 Fender Part number
025-4200-540
You can match up the specs perhaps:
Cheers!
