Hey,

1st post so I thought I'd jump in with a technical issue!

I've got a lovely MIM Jaguar Classic Player Special HH which is a great guitar IMO
Had it 7 months now and a beginner/intermediate guitarist I think that the action
May be a little high at the 17th Fret....
I'm measuring about 6-7/64 of an inch when I believe it should be a little lower.
I can't find anything too specific on the correct height for a Jaguar
But after doing a bit of Googling the 4/64 mark has cropped up a couple of times...

Appreciate any feedback on this before I take it to a Luthier to sort out!

Thanks

There is no absolute right action height, it varies depending on the player's touch, style and likings.

The "factory specs" are always a good starting point, so a quote from
http://support.fender.com/manuals/instruments/Jaguar_(1965)_manual.pdf
Quote:
The recommended string clearance at 12th fret (measured by the distance between the bottom of the string and the top of the fret) is:
String 1-4: 5/64" (2mm)........+/-1/64" (.4mm)
String 5-6: 3/32" (2.4mm)......+/-1/64" (.4mm)

The Jaguar is a bit tricky to set up (especially with the vintage style bridge, your AdjustoMatic is a little easier), so it might be a good idea to use that luthier you mentioned for the first setup - best if you can follow the procedure and learn what to do the next time.
