Hey guys, I've had my Jag for a while now and need new strings. Basically I want to know what strings work with this guitar and what type and size are supplied on the guitar from new. Thanks for any help :D :D :D

It comes with Fender 9-42s. Get whatever you're comfortable with. I like 11s on Jaguars.

Your guitar came with Fender Super 250L's, NPS (.009-.042 Gauge).

If you like the sound of those strings, I would just replace them with a set of the same gauge. The .009 - .042 gauge set is very good if you do a lot of bending.

I use D'Addario or Ernie Ball Slinky string sets, however I use a 10 gauge set on both my Jazzmasters.

If you go to the higher gauge your guitar may require a new set-up. The 10 gauge will put more tension on the neck

Hope this helps.

Jerry

I just put some Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt 0.010 -0.046 on mine. Loud and bright as advertised.

Prior I had Fender 150M 0.011 - 0.049 pure nickel. Fender's were more "smooth" if that can be used to describe a sound.

If it doesn't have a power tube in the circuit...I'm not that interested

What exactly do the numbers like 0.011 - 0.049 mean?

The low number indicates the thickness of the high "E" string and the nigh number indicates the thickness of the low "E" string. Typical string set numbers.

Gauge 9 - 42
.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042

Gauge 10 - 46
.010, .013, .017, .026, .036, .046

Gauge: 11 - 48
.011, .013, .018, .028, .038, .048

Gauge: 12 - 46
.012, .016, .024, .032, .042, .053

Congrats that's a cool guitar. When I got mine it was used and the guy had 13's on there. I immediately put on Fender Pure Nickel 9s and adjusted the truss rod and the guitar was pretty much ok. Later I decided to try 10s and I settled on that. Still later I've put some Ernie Ball Pure Nickel 10s on and I really like them. Easy to bend but not quite as limp as the 9s, and they feel a little softer to the touch than the Fender strings.
