I sure hope so! When I got mine in 1978 I did not know that much about them. The price was right, cool rosewood finger board, not one but, two pickups and, a whammy bar to boot! I got an employee discount even! I'm a fan! Thanks for pointing out the 50th. We might be a year early maybe also! According to Wiki, it came out in 1965! I hope some mod who works at Fender reads this and, brings up the topic around the plant in Corona.

This one is 37 years old. I wish I had photos of it when it was new and shiny.

It'd be cool if they did--maybe send every Mustang owner a gift of some sort. (Which I don't expect, but if want suggestions--that's mine...)

My first electric was a Mustang. I got it in 68, but my uncle had it for a least a couple of years before then. So it was either a 66 or maybe even original 65 model. Unfortunately, that Mustang (along with the vintage classic Ampeg Jet that came with it) is long gone. However, I still have the 72/73 Racing Stripe (red) I purchased in 1975 for my wife. In this case, she's long gone but I still have the guitar. I think this was the last year (until recent times) that they made the racing stripe design. By this time, only the body was painted; the headstock is clear.

Maybe the guitar spotted by BadScooter on his factory tour is the Anniversary model? It has the Mustang Stripe but with P90's and all natural...would make a fitting tribute/anniversary model.
