Hi folks. I own the http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fender-classic-player-jaguar-special-hh-electric-guitarFender Classic Player Jaguar HH (in beautiful white.)

I had the stock humbucker pickups replaced with Seymour Duncan P-Rails (in white.) I'm still unhappy with the sound and am considering replacing the pickups again.

This is where I need help from the community. Would you guys be able to offer me suggestions? Right now I'm considering the Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90s http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/specialized/specialized-instruments/sph901_phat_cat/ or the Mean 90 P-90shttp://www.guitarfetish.com/Mean-90-True-Alnico-P90-Pickup-in-Humbucker-Case-Our-FATTEST-Chrome-Bridge-Pickup_p_480.html.

My question regarding those is, would the wiring in the guitar adversely affect either of these pickups? And are they the right size? (I'm a guitar/hardware novice.)

Also, one other idea I had was to get the Jaguar USA reissue pickups. I know these are single coils and would probably need some kind of humbucker sized casing. Does anybody have any experience with single coil pickups in a humbucker sized casing? Would this idea work? And would the wiring (and non-rhythm circuit) affect these, as well?

Thank you so much to anybody who can offer me advice. Please keep in mind that I am a novice when it comes to hardware and might not understand more technical aspects, though I will relay them to my tech.

Hi,
I have the guitar you have. I bought it for the scale length and the versatility of the options it has, but I didn't like the enforcer pickups. Far to brittle for me. So I bought the pickups fitted to the Blacktop HH Jaguar from http://www.allparts.co.uk , had them coil tapped at http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk and now I'm very pleased with the sound.
Warning though. As you know the guitars pickups that you have, are fitted with three adjustment screws per pickup. Where as the blacktop has standard two. So you'll have to drill holes for centre screws and enlarge the scratch plate holes to allow for the covers of the blacktop pickups. Because you can no longer adjust the angle of the pickups you'll have to wedge them some how or they'll be at the wrong angle. I've got a good guitar tech guy who set them by using this method. I can't adjust the pickups but they're set just right for me anyway, so I've no need to.
Good luck and make sure, if you can't do them yourself, to get a good tech person.
