"All other Fender guitars" would likely be the best forum, so yes, you picked that well. :)
For any Fender branded electric guitar in good working condition, $200 is usually cheap. For a Jag-Stang it's suspiciously cheap - even just a used Jag-Stang body tends to cost more than that.

Are you sure this is a Fender Jag-Stang, and not something like a Squier Jagmaster (which are much much cheaper)?

Yes it its a Fender, not the Squier alternative version., im 100% certain of that.

it looks like ill get it then, i just didn't want to but it if they normally go for about $250 meaning the $200 wasn't that great of a deal.

thanks for your help, much appreciated.

So I finally bought it, some small things wrong with it but im happy with it over all.

I Need to set it up completely, actions a bit high, haven't played it very loud yet but eager to see how it sounds once i gone through and give it a tune up.

some a-hole engraved some kind of emoish slur on the back of the body at one point of the guitars life

Its a 1996 made in Japan

Also, dose anyone know where to get that missing piece on one of the tuners?

I suppose that's why it went for below market - particularly the carving in the back.

The missing piece is called a bushing - I know you can get them from parts suppliers like Stewart-Macdonald, Allparts, and you can probably get them directly from Fender now that they have an on-line parts store. You just need the standard bushings (not "conversion bushings) but you may have to buy a pack of 6 of them.

Those seem shallow enough that they probably can be roto'ed away.
More of a concern are the two holes in the edge, all the way to the wood. That's not easily fixed, so he may just have to live with that.

Looks like he lacks the button too, in which case picking up a new complete machine is likely going to be the best choice.

I think it's the camera angle - if you count them he does have 6 tuner buttons. Without the bushing that low E tuner just looks odd.

Unfortunately I can only see the two photos in the thread; flickr is blocked to me here.

The dings in the bottom edges im fine with, practically all my guitars have that due to live performances.

i would like to figure out how to get rid of the rear carvings/engravings however,

it dose have all the tuner buttons, i already put a low e string on it and it stays in tune just fine as is, but i still want to replace the bushing.

it play extremely well even with it not being set up to my liking yet. the neck feels great, the body shape and color is a whole different story though.

it was more of an impulse type purchase due to the fact that i've never been offered a Fender so cheap regardless of its condition.

ill try to record a sound test/demo if i get a chance.
