Hey all,
so I'm getting a vintage mustang body with a replacement neck.
Comes with pickguard and all that, just needs a bridge and electronics replacement.
I'll have to cut a route for the pickup in the pickguard and connect all the wiring up, I'm not sure exactly how to go about this as I have never done that much modifying to any of my guitars.
So yeah, I'd like to make the guitar sound awesome and play really well; if I could make it unique in some way that would be killer too :)

Any advice/tips/ guides out there?

Cheers,
Jimmi

A actual Mustang pickguard would speed the assembly process along and eliminate the possibility of screwing the pooch when cutting out a second pickup hole. That shown in the photos seems to be a pickguard for a Musicmaster or a Bronco.

The Mustang pickguard will have provisions for mounting a pair of slider-type pickup selection switches at the top (which coincide with the trench rout on the body that links the two pickup routs). If you prefer a toggle-type switch mounted on the body's lower horn (as with a Jazzmaster), find a pickguard for a Duosonic. However, you'll need to rout a corresponding hole in your Mustang body to provide mounting room for this type of switch.
