I'm having a slight GAS for this Jazzmaster beauty:
http://www.fender.com/en-FI/guitars/jaz ... ard-black/

Haven't gotten the chance to play one - local mom&pop-stores don't keep it in stock, so it's gonna be a netstore order if I choose to get one.

I know it's an Asia made instrument, so comments on quality, playability, finishing & such are welcome.
Also, what sounds do you get from those humbuckers - and: are they splittable if rewired?

Any other comments also welcomed.

That Jazzy looks way cool. It is hard to tell if the Humbuckers are splitable, but there are plenty drop in replacements that will have that feature.

Hi

I am a newcomer to posting, so sorry if I say anything wrong or obvious to seasoned campaigners. I have 3 strats and two teles of various origins plus a couple of Squiers I have just bought a MIM Jazzmaster from Ebay (UK) I am sure you could get one of these on your Ebay at a similar price to a new modern player, which is a stripped down Jazzmaster. The MIM Jazzmaster is a wonderful guitar plays like a dream and is my new favourite guitar.

Thanks for both replys/repliers.

The GAS I'm smitten with is caused on that specific model, not just any Jazzmaster - I've played (& set up...) quite a few along the years. I liked some, but somehow they still were not exactly that Fender that lights my fire (maybe they stand a little in the shadow of Strats and Teles...).

Now the key factors on than Modern Player version:

The maple fretboard (my personal preference) is rare on JM's. There of course is a maple neck Squier Vint-Mod-JM, but I've played it & was not inspired. And the JM Pro from Fender's CS... well, nope - I dont feel I'm a customshoplevelplayer.
But MIM and Japanese Jazzmasters are (let's say mostly...) rosewood fretboarded (if that's a word...)

Then there's the black finish combined with the pearloid pickguard - looks really good (& would be perfect with a little black paint on the headstock to make it matching - another personal preference).

And last but not least: those humbuckers on a guitar that's always had the JM variations of P90...
The demo clip on youtube tells something about the sounds - but not really that much.
The question about the humbuckers' splittability is to ask if we got a chance for the best of both worlds here - the fullness of humbuckers with the traditional Jazzmaster sound.

And then the icing on the cake: all this for 444€ (that's about 600$)...

So, summa summarum: my GAS continues, and so does the quest for owner comments.
Somehow, I get the feeling that despite the price the guitar has not been a huge seller.
