Amongst my collection I have a Jaguar HH Blacktop, and while I love the way the guitar plays, and its stripped back simplicity compared to 'normal' Jaguars, I really can't say I care for the sound of the pickups much. I've never been a lover of the humbucker sound, and though I'm sure the Blacktop pickups are fine examples of the breed, they don't quite do it for me.

By coincidence I've been lusting after Cabronita Teles of late, and a week or two ago I started to daydream about how my Jaguar might sound with Filtertron-type pickups, which get such rave reviews on the Cabronita. By chance I happened across a custom guitar builder and pickup winder that works not far from me, in Manchester (UK). The Creamery (as the company is called) makes Fender humbucker-sized Filtertron-type pickups that would be a drop fit into the Jaguar. Beautifully made, hand wound and not stupidly expensive, either - around £140 for a matched pair (that's just under $200 US).

So, people, what do you think? How would such a 'Jaguanita' sound? I have to say I'm really tempted to give it a try...

There's no Jaguanita as far as I can tell.

The guitar you're talking about is called Gato Pardo.

This Jaguar is unique as it sports a full 25.5''-scale length as opposed to the shorter 24'' scale of a standard Jag.
