Hi guys!

I've just recieved a Jazzmaster body from ebay. The thing is, seller said it was from 1965. But it has a custom white finish, which doesn't look good at all. But now I can't even check if it's really from 1965 or I've been cheated. The seller specializes in vintage guitar stuff, so I don't expect him to fool me. Anyway, how can I check that the piece I've got is really from 1965?

And the second question is, body has some cracks here and there. You can see them on pictures below.
How bad are they and can I repair them somehow?

That's my first vintage fender project so I hope it's gonna be really VINTAGE and NICE.

Thanks!

UPDATE!

Noticed there are some marks on the body, so I sanded it gently and it revealed some info.

Looks like it says

MARK RAVELO
575-02-3728

Any sugestions? Looks more like a phone number...

Here are the pic of it sanded down.

The format seems to be that of a Social Security Number and if so, the "575" prefix indicates that it was issued in the state of Hawaii.

SSN? Hawaii? Isn't it weird? Why would one sign his SSN on a guitar body???)

He put that info on there in case it got stolen. He was probably born in Hawaii.

I'm sure he wouldn't be real happy to know his SSN has just been splashed on a public internet forum.

That's the folly of doing things like that.

I signed up for Lifelock Ultimate years ago to deter any "entanglements" caused by inadvertent disclosures of sensitive personal data.

I guess the moral is to not sell the stuff you put your SSN on.
