Funny i live in germany and some months ago i was talking about Starcasters with the owner of one of the local shops. went in today to get strings and there was a Starcaster hanging in the rack. bout had a heartattack as i had no idea they planned to reissue them. After fender slapped the "Starcaster" name on that horrid bundle and all signs pointed to it never seenig the light of day again. on line id seen them from 3000 to 5000 . friend of mine in the 80's played them and i was always in love with them...needless to say i bought it. it is made in China but truth be told this is a really good guitar and i have a real one in my studio right now ( borrowed) and this is pretty dame close to the original. and for 700 euros ( which is ALOT for a guitar made in china) it well worth it for anyone that wants to own one now. Ill tear it apart now and replace all the potsand pick up switch and wires but right out of the box its the best made in china guitar ive ever played by miles!

only other mod ill do is add a master volume like the original ;)

Ooh yes, please show. When I read your post I was looking for german sites. According to GC, the black ones will hit stores on 10/13/13 and other colours are due 11/1/13. Bullocks.

Ok, I'm just impatient.

Both the Starcaster and Coronado seem like prime candidates for A Fishman Powerbridge.

Do we have any actual sightings of the reissued Starcasters in any guitar stores in the US?

Guitar Center said the aged cherry burst would be available on Nov. 1 then it was moved to Nov. 8 and now they say Nov. 9.

The black ones are available on Nov. 15.

Was wondering if there are any other eager buyers out there waiting for that slow boat from China.

There is one review at Musicians Friend. They and AMS seem to be selling and shipping them. Unless they are just taking orders. I am not going to call them to find out.

I am waiting patiently for a natural finish model to show up at my local music store. It was ordered several weeks ago and is due in any time now. I also notice that the "Big Guys" have pushed back the expected arrival dates to the point where the cherry sunburst models are now not expected until Feb. '14! What is this.....Rickenbacker????

Patience is a virtue! My new natural finish Starcaster arrived at my local store in upstate New York this week. I picked it up today. Outstanding!! It weighs a bit more than I expected, but from my brief encounter with an original one years ago, it feels about right. I had the action lowered ever so slightly and that was it! Fit, finish....great! A little darker natural finish than I thought, but it helps the body better match the neck. Pure seventies! Sounds excellent! Now, let's see how it holds up! :D

Joy of joys. I received my Starcaster just now. It's beautiful! Spareparts is correct in that it is slightly heavier than expected but the birds eye grain on the body (front & back) as well as neck and headstock are superb!! Aged Cherryburst is out of this world, so glad I didn't get the maple one.

Actually......you DID get the maple one, since all the bodies are maple. I assume you didn't like the natural finish model. I love it because it reminds me of the only original Starcaster I ever played! I find it interesting that natural finish Fenders of the seventies sell for far less than their color counterparts. I was told once that this had everything to do with an oversupply/lack of demand of natural finishes from back then. Whatever! These new Starcasters look AND sound great!! Enjoy yours! :D

Spare & Jeffrey, seems you guys are happy with this guitar. I've lusted after one for many years. Can you tell me a couple of things? What kind of amps are you going through? Is the tuning stable? And what do you think of the pick-ups? Thanks, Art
