A big thanks to anyone who signed the old petition back in 2010. I'm sure it helped :)

I signed it and I'm glad fender heard us !

But as many other people who signed it, I was more hoping for an American Vintage reissue with all the vintage specs... I'm sure that all those modifications were made to improve as well costs economies and to adapt to modern playing but, somewhere, I'm still hopping for an USA made reissue... Strange that this MP reissue isn't available in the famous sunburst that might have represented maybe 75% of the sales (we all know why...). Maybe they're keeping it for some other serie reissue... (not squier please!)

Since this reissue proves fender is reading players requests they might have read that there are as many joyfull people as desapointed ones already looking to upgrade those MIC guitars with lollars or curtis novak pickups, adding trem or bigsbies... regretting they're not string through body or the master volume control... and come on, what's the heck with the neck placed further inside the body ?... (ok it will be better for the necks and easier in a mass production scale but come on... what about the design ?)

Anyway, many people is still really excited by this faire price guitar, me the first and I can't wait to try it !

So thank you fender for listening to the fans, please keep doin'it ;)

Thanks for signing :)

I agree with your points. Although I do think the new bridge will be an improvement, and like yourself, I would have loved a true vintage re-issue, however I am secretly glad they are modern players and are more affordable. I too would have preferred the sunburst finish, Although I am sure if these modern player starcasters sell and perform well, we will see many more series in years to come. I sure hope so anyway.

My main guitar for about 7 years was my US Fender strat, when i got the major starcaster gas, I had to have a semi hollow guitar of some sort with a maple fretboard. I got the Modern Player thinline Tele deluxe, originally to keep the starcaster gas at bay, but i couldn't be happier with the tele, it has filled my starcaster void and became my main guitar............ until now!!! :)

I would have liked to have kept the master volume feature, but I refuse to complain about anything at this point. Fender have reissued an affordable Starcaster, i thought this could never happen, but here we are.

Fender fan for life!

I didn't notice that. And now the Starcaster is missing from the product pages here at Fender.com, hmmm.

Edit: I couldn't find the pages via the Guitars link at the top of these pages, but I could get to them via the Home link and the big announcement link. I saw that cracked pickup ring.

Nope, as I type this, the Starcaster is not at that link, Art.

It may be an on and off thing.

Edit:. An hour and a half later, it is back.

well after talking to the manager at my local music store...id have to say youre probably right. siiigh he didn't have much good to say about fender or Gibson as far as treating the small shops with respect. the big box stores buy more so they must be better right? Ive always wondered what the people who had started great companies in America would say about them now?

I've been wanting a Starcaster ever since I saw the ads in Guitar Player featuring Randy Bachman's endorsement of the guitars. He used Starcasters both in concert and in the studio,so contrary to what some people say, they were obviously capable of producing some great tones.I hope they are on the market long enough for me to be able to save for one......and then I'll start on a Coronado fund. Those 2 and the Fender XII are the Fender dream guitars that I have left to get.

Due to hit stores according to Fender Customer Service and they are being made at the Chinese factory ( :( ) and they are to release a custom gig bag in December. I was told a universal case will do the trick.

I only hope we don't get a George Lucas series of reissues (MIJ, MIM, then USA) after this first release. Couldn't verify that.

Anyway, bought one sight unseen. Should have bought one back in '76 when I had the chance.

I never saw one in the shops back then. I suppose if I asked, my shop would have gotten one for me.

I was always intrigued with the Starcaster, but never actually played one until about five years ago. One came into a local music store and the employees didn't know what it was! They put a ridiculously low price on it, but I didn't have the cash that day! They eventually sold it for two and a half times as much as they wanted that day! I'm glad to see it available at an affordable price, import be damned! I can't afford a 335 either, but the Dot is acceptable with better pickups put on it! What is next? They did the Bass VI last year, now this, maybe an affordable Electric XII??
