Hi !

I'm very interested in this guitar and I will try one (Used of course) in a few days, I'm always afraid to buy used guitars that's why I got a few questions for you.

First why a thin skin ? And not a regular one ? (I think I read somewhere it's for the wood can vibrate better  )

What's the serial number type of this guitar ? I saw something like LE00043 (Youtube) and maybe V***** (But can't find this one again...)

On this guitar the serial number is supposed to be on the neck plate, right ? And nothing wrote at the base of the neck (The Japan has the "Crafted In Japan" I believe)

If you have any info to avoid any fraud, you're welcome ! :D (I'm new in the Fender world)

Thank you !

The AVRI instrument will have a V-prefaced serial number stamped on the neck plate and nothing else. The guitar will NOT be marked with "MADE IN USA" anywhere. If you see any evidence to the contrary, especially signs of "diddling", walk away and look elsewhere.

Thank you very much :P

No "Made in USA" except the factory sticker I guess !

Here's the picture of the one I found (But not seen nor played myself yet) :

Image

The seller (It's supposed to be a small music school) says it has been played like 2 times in a studio, with a Jazzmaster bridge, don't know if the seller still has the original bridge yet (I hope so). 2000$ (In France, i thought it was a lot cheaper in the US but not that much !)

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid but the sticker is not the same here :

Or here (That's where I saw the LE***** serial, but maybe it's the shop one) :

The seller probably stick it back on, no big deal at all but we never know...

I can't help you on that sticker on the white Jaguar; that doesn't look familiar.

I believe that the "thinskin" ones had the "LExxxxx" serial numbers while the regular model had the "Vxxxxx" serial numbers.

Pickguard stickers are transient and fleeting at best. And FMIC may use different graphics on instruments intended for export. The guitars depicted do in fact look to be authentic (the Oly White Jag is particularly striking).

Hi Jessy
CIJ crafted in Japan was used for a few years. I'm not sure what years. Also there is a second marking MIJ made in Japan with the guitars serial number and MIJ on the lower back of the neck close to the body. My 2012 MIJ HH Jaguar has MIJ markings in that place. I installed a U.S. of A. Jaguar tremolo and black witch hat knobs on my little hot rod. It plays great and looks bicthen.

I like the Jag's so much I'm buying a new AVRI 62 Jaguar for its sound being different and the mute. I was a body suffer and come from San Diego, Ca. I may try my hand on some suffer music (maybe ?). But I can see that the mute is not just for surf music anymore. I plan on using the mute to widen my sound in R & R.

Last year was America's 50th and Japans 30th anniversary of the Jaguars. Fender made many different models so you could get about 10 different styles. Maybe more now. There all great guitars.

Jaquars and Jazzmasters use the exact same bridge. That looks like a Mustang bridge on there, which is a common mod.

Also missing the mute.
