I recently purchased the Fender JMJ and apart from the tremolo arm being way too loose (it doesnt even stay in the socket, no matter what I do, it just falls out) the finish seems really bad. I didnt really have time to play it that much, so it was laying in the guitar case most of the time. Today I took it out for the third time and part of the finish was just chipped off. Anybody have a similar experience?

I'll start of by saying that I love these guitars. Absolutely love them. I've had one for a single day and noticed that the finish was flaking off right where the neck and body meet. I've returned it and am trying another which should arrive tomorrow. I hope that one will be better. Obviously if one searches this and other forums there are definitely issues that some people have had with this guitar. I'm just not sure what the percentage is and if this is something that is very common or not. The KO finish is stunning and I really want to keep this guitar. I know a lot of people don't care if there is flaking over time as the weather and played look is desirable. I just don't want it to look 30 years old in 3 months  . I did have a select strat which I recently returned as there was some finish issues near the skunk stripe. The replacement was perfect and I'm really happy with the guitar. I also had to return a brand new HR Deluxe III amp as some switches where not working (I know that's a controversial amp but I like the sound I'll likely get a Deluxe reverb at some point as well). The replacement was great once I educated myself on the tube rattle I was getting when I first got it out of the box. I have some good folks at my local guitar center who I trust and have made comments about some Gibson and Fender products having quality control issues from time to time. Guess it's par for the course.
