I have a fiesta red Cobain mustang and I used to have a 65 reissue mustang. So here is my question. I was cleaning the cobain stang and was about to take off the volume and control knobs but I do not know how. On my 65 reissue there was an allen wrench that fit into a small hole on the knobs and they could be loosened or tightened accordingly. On the Cobain stang there are no holes on the knobs for the small allen wrench to fit in at all. I could probably get them off the same way that I would get knobs off of a Strat, but before I do that I want to make sure that I am 100% correct in doing so. I don't want to possibly damage the pots. Please help.
Thanks

Don't know why you've had no answers. Maybe the question is regarded as too simple, or nobody wants to take the responsibility of possible pot damage.

But here goes, use at your own risk:

Knobs basically gome in two variations. One has a screw that locks it in the pot shaft & comes off when you unscrew the screw, the other is held in place with just friction and comes off by lifting it.
If you find no screws on the knobs, you can assume the latter.
Both kind of knobs are sometimes really stuck, so there's a myriad of ways to get them loose. StewMac, for instance, sells a "Knob Puller" for under 10 bucks - although in lo-tech guitar maintenance screwdrivers, flat knives, paint scrapers etc. and many DIY-special tools are also commonly used.
You just have to figure how to get the knob loose without damaging the guitar or pots.

Some words of comfort: knobs and pots are relatively durable - and also relatively cheap if the worst happens and you manage to break one.

Sometimes, when knobs that just pull off are stuck, I will use the "blade" end of a Tupperware orange peeler. It's plastic and flexible enough to get under the rim of the knob, and you can lift up on it and usually they come up enough to then pull off. Ask your women friends if they have any of those orange peelers.
