Hello,

Trying to help a friend do a J Mascis Jazzmaster wiring harness. He wants the reverse lead/rhythm like J uses. I've looked all over for the diagram bu t can't find one. Anyone no if it exists? Or has anyone done it that can explain it?

Thanks in advance for ANY help that can be offered with his wiring.

This is a Jazzmaster diagram ;

http://www.seymourduncan.com/images/pro ... 10-115.pdf

You want to reverse lead / rythm pickups ? Just flip wires on the swich .

Or Google Jazzmaster diagram and click on IMAGE

Guitars
J Mascis' main guitar is a sunburst '63 Fender Jazzmaster with original neck and pickups (left). He replaced the pickup covers, knobs, and added a Tune-o-matic-style bridge. His main backup is a sunburst '65 Jazzmaster with original neck and pickups, also with the bridge replaced. Other Jazzmasters in his arsenal include a refinished '58 with vintage pickups and gold hardware, a refinished '63 body with '59 neck and vintage Jazzmaster pickups, and the second prototype of his signature Squier Jazzmaster with Seymour Duncan Antiquities. Mascis disengages the top toggle switch and installs jumbo frets into most of his guitars.

You can also email consumerrelations@fender.com
and ask them for a wiring diagram for the J. Mascus model.

Thank you both so much for the info, greatly appreciated. I was thinking that I could just reverse the wires on the top horn switch but wasn't 100% sure and couldn't find anything to validate my opinion.

No Problem. Give consumer relations a shot. They have sent guitar wiring diagrams and some weird mid-90's amp manuals and schematics in a few short days. It might take them a day or two to get back to you.

Not reverse wires but reverse pickups like I write before. That is what you talk about first No ? , or I don't understand what you want.

Reversing wires is to take negative ( ground ) wire of a pickup and connect where is the positive wire . Ans take positive wire and connect it whers was the negative wire.

stratele52 ... What he wants to do is make the top horn or rhythm into the lead controls and make the bottom or lead into the rhythm controls ... if that makes sense ... I was thinking everything stays the same except the on/on switch

now i'm really confused and it's probably and easy MOD

As I said, get the J Mascis wiring diagram from Fender consumer relations and compare it with the standard Jazzmaster. The difference should be obvious.

Here is the standard Jazzmaster http://support.fender.com/service_diagrams/miscellaneous_guitars/010-0800A_SISD.pdf
