I'm interested in adding a Jaguar mute to a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar. The Squier seems to have the floating bridge that the Jaguar mute uses. Can a mute be used on the Squier Jag and will it fit between the bridge and bridge pickup ?

I'ed like to get an American Vintage 62 Jag, but there a bit expensive. I'ed like to have a 2nd guitar that sounds like the original 62 Jag at an affordable price.

Thanks ahead

If this is the one you are talking about, the answer is NO. That's not a vintage bridge. http://www.fender.com/guitars/jaguar/vintage-modified-jaguar-hh/

If it's this one http://www.fender.com/guitars/jaguar/vintage-modified-jaguar/ the answer is maybe. Measure it. Measure a vintage (or vintage reissue as well.) You will also have to route a hole for the plunger under the bridge. (make sure you order ALL the parts.)

Hi Art
The second listing is the "Vintage Modified Jaguar" I intend to use, your dead on with that one. Muting a Squier would make a nice backup for my "I modified" tremolo 2012 MIJ Jaguar HH Special. Plus being in So. Ca. the surf sound is still alive here. Just barely.

Getting the measurement for the plungers depth would be the only thing I think I'll need besides getting the parts. I've already found all of the parts I'll need on the internet befor I started this thread.

Finding another Jaguar I can measure from will be the biggest problem. I've found draftings and drawings but no depth for the plungers socket. And tho I'm a Teck, I'm sure no one wants me taking apart there axe. And I'm the only person I know who has a Jaguar.

If anyone has a drafting or drawings for the "muted" Jaguar please drop me a line via this posting.

Thanks ahead

If you can locate a 50th anniversary Jag, they are drilled/routed for the plunger but do not have mutes installed. Maybe you can try to measure one of those? I checked the service diagram for the '62 and it just shows the hole. No measurements. http://support.fender.com/service_diagrams/miscellaneous_guitars/010-0900A_SISD.pdf

If I get a chance, I'll see if I can get a depth measurement on mine.

Hi Art
If you get the depth please get the dia. too. I'm not sure if the shop drawing has the dia. I'm sure it dose not have the depth.
Thanks loads

Diameter is the easy part. Give me a little time.
