I'm in talks with a guy selling a left-handed Jaguar (finally, after months of me searching for one!) and I wanted to see if you guys could let me know to the best of your knowledge if I'm buying a real Jaguar and not a fake replica before I take the plunge!

Here are a few pictures of it:

From the information I have about the guitar, it's a '63 re-issue, made in Japan in '94 and the serial number is: T011357.

I've check the serial and it does check out, although serials are obviously easily faked.

Everything looks good to me, but I'm not experienced when it comes to Jags so I was just wondering what you guys thought?

Thanks in advance.

Seems genuine to me.

The MIJ/CIJ Fender's are some of the finest instruments available. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

I bought a Black 2012 MIJ HH Jaguar Special early last year and it's a sweet little beasty. The Japanese have been building them for 30 years and they make great Jag's, no complants there. Also the frist Jaguars came out 50 years ago. Many different models were produced for the 50th Ann. last year.

I installed an American Jaguar Tremolo on my Jag last December and it's even better. I just had to have a whammy bar, a Jag just seems a bit naked and "somethings missing" without a Jag tremolo.

I've been doing a lot of research on 24 in scale fenders ( Jaguars/ Mustangs/ and Jagstang ) the past few months. The guitar looks right to me. The serial number decal looks like mine and is in the right place. Also the Japanese tremolos "Fender logo & pat # " is a shallow stamping compaired to the deeper American imprint of the Fender logo & pat #.

You may want to contact Matt Brown mbrown@fender.com and ask him if he would check into that guitar using the serial number.

I hope this help you.
Enjoy,Jag's are very nice guitars.
