First things first I know this is a Fender forum not a Music Man forum.

Still, these instruments were designed by Leo Fender, and George Fullerton, so I am thinking for me to ask this question in this forum is justified.

What are their differences 2eq vs. 3eq vs. classic?

Thanks

The Classic has passive pickups, the others are active, the 2eq pre amp has volume, treble and bass. The 3eq pre amp has volume, treble, mid and bass.

Actually the Classic is an EBMM model that also has the active 2-eq system; they just went back to the Leo-era cosmetics and maybe some other features (sorry, I'm a guitar guy not a bass guy). The 3-band eq is only on the 2-pickup model, the 2-band eq is on the 1 pickup model.

These are still in production by EBMM; you could post over on their forum as there are quite a few members who have both Leo-era and EBMM-era Sting Rays.

Also Leo didn't do the 3-band eq; his models only had the 2-band eq because I don't believe he did a 2-pickup Sting Ray; the Sabre was his 2-pickup bass.

There is a pretty cool Music Man forum. Mostly Amps...but some discussion on guitars and basses. Good community. You can google it, or try

If it doesn't have a power tube in the circuit...I'm not that interested
