i just took a walk around the house to see how many guitars i have left,( i give some away now and then, usually at christmas) 19 guitars, a few, in the process of completion. then i have necks and bodies waiting to be connected. fender electrics waiting for bodies, emg pickups, fender hummers, and singles, jackson dinkies, fender pickguard loaded assemblies, starcaster whammys, and enough suspension springs and screws to make a retail seller jealous. i work in my shed in the summer building guitars, and i haven't counted whats out there yet. am i a little out there as far as guitars is concerned? i'm a hobbyist, also a mechanic and an ebay seller under a different name so as not to confuse the management of this forum, will not divulge. i love to build them, and play when i have time, also in my stock are an amati and a strad violin, 2 yamaha keyboards and 2 washburn ueks. i'll never play them all. why do i have this many?

If you had 19 guitars plus all the parts and couldn't feed yourself or your family or pay the rent, THAN it would be too many.

If the important stuff is balanced than the rest is a hobby so enjoy it!!

Hello Johnny12string,

19 guitars would be pretty cool,
but I'm happy with 3.

I sold a guitar to a man that had
over 50 guitars and 30 amps all
on display. I asked him if he played
them all. His reply "every chance I get"
He's a fantastic musician so I suppose
50 is not enough for some.

Cheers.

Nicely said... I personally suffer from G.A.S. (guitar aquisition syndrome) so I shouldn't comment, but, I do have 18 guitars and 12 amps, 2 conga drums and 1 Keyboard with 61 keys. 3-million effects pedals (including a talk box...) help me

Sounds cool, photos?

I have G.A.S. too, just bought a new Line 6 Spider 3 and my Strat sounds so good through it, almost like I can really play. :D

I will try to post a photo today. This is embarrassing to admit, but, I don't know how... I am sure I'll figure it out, (I'm 43 and a computer skills level moron). Any walk-through advice is greatly appreciated... I can plug the digital camera into the port...

This is embarassing to admit but I'm not to great at that either. My wife does the digital camera stuff for us, and I do the video.

Once I have a photo I know how to post it on photobucket and get a link to it though. If you manage to get it on your computer and need further help, email it to me if you'd like and I can help get it posted for you.

Hey, we're musicians, no one expects us to be geniuses, right? :D

2 - american standards 1990 and 2002

1 - 2006 mexi strat -duncan pickups

1 - vintage 1968 strat- this was my first strat i got at age 11 in 1973.

the highway ones and the 68 strat are the best. but i love them all.

I have five, (accumulated over years) and that seems to be enough for me. I don't plan on purchasing anymore, unless something happens to the ones I already have (breaking, theft, etc.). I'd probably purchase a new amp, before I buy another guitar.

As far as how many guitars should you have? As many as you want and can afford, after all the bills have been paid. After all....it's your money and you're the one who worked for it.

So long as you actually play them and they don't just sit collecting dust, then you're good. If the most use they are getting is your kids stacking them in their cases to make case forts, then you've got a problem.
