I've sworn not to want any new guitars but the new super sonic in sunfire orange is just killin' me! What a cool looking guitar... throw a couple of Dimarzio Super Distortions in there with some coil-splitting and that thing could do anything... YIKES! :D

The original Squier Vista version had only the bridge humbucker canted.

Pawnshop Super Sonics are armed with two canted Fender DH-1 Humbuckers w/ zebra bobbins!

Make an HHH configuration with coil taps/splits for further tonal options by adding a third Super Distortion humbucker in the middle!

that would be all the more cool... I'm all for super distortions and coil splitting.. They're awesome pickups, as are the super 2's, for all styles of music and spilt vey well due to their high output. Mmmm....

With a three humbucker setup you'll get tons of killer tones!

Drill an extra hole in the pickguard to accommodate the middle humbucker or order a custom-made from the pickguardian.

Personally I like that sunfire supersonic with a tortoiseshell pickguard :P

That is one ugly designed guitar
It looks like somebody got drunk one night and designed it for a joke

There are rumours saying the Supersonic was inspired by an old photo of the Voodoo Master playing an upside-down Jaguar.

Looks really cool no doubt. I wonder why the Pawn Shop Series went to Mexico? I tried some of the old Japan models but it just didn't do it for me. Did Mexico up their quality for these? I wish that Fender would of come out with a bare bones Squier for modification but I guess most people wouldn't feel bothered to do that. Also wish Fender would stick with regular pickups for modification because it's a shame you would have to make a new hole in the pick guard if you like say a Seymour Duncan. I liked the Blacktop series a little more than the Pawn Shop series so I just hope that Fender hasn't forgot about those. I think that some of the best affordable guitars are still the Squier Classic Vibe and wish that more would be added to the line up. I would also love to see some more American Made guitars that are not AV and Artist only.

The Select series are American-made; Fender recently expanded this line with new models, including a Jazz Bass with USA Deluxe electronics.

You are right although I find those aimed more for the AV and CS crowd.

Maybe throw in some more basic American made guitars. I would like to see a USA Standard Jaguar and Jazzmaster. It's just a little rough that for a USA Jazzmaster or Jaguar you have to jump all the way up to a AV. I'm a big fan of the American Special Series and really am glad that they decided to add some more colors. I also was a fan of the Highway One. :(

I get that the MIM is aimed for the crowd that doesn't want to spend the money to get the MIA but there is a large gap for the people that want a MIA. Personally I still dig my Squier Classic Vibe over any MIM or MIJ I have come by. I just don't want to see the budget USA lines to disappear.

I like unusual Fenders, and the Super Sonic fits the bill, especially in orange. After contemplating a purchase I instead went for an as new sonic blue Jag Stang. My purchase was solely based on what "looks" best in my mind and what helps fill out my collection. But someday when additional money is available, I'll have a Super Sonic.
