I just bought a 1995 MIJ Jaguar '66 RI (the one with the binding and block inlays) and I'm going to be doing a couple of replacements/upgrades: the bridge for one. The bridge screws and springs have a fair bit of rust on them, and the previous owner gouged deeper grooves in some of the saddles (presumably in an attempt to achieve more string stability).

I do not want a Mustang bridge nor a Mastery bridge, nor any other such alternative. I want an original type bridge.

My question is, will a USA Fender Jaguar/Jazzmaster Bridge (Fender part # 0054460000) fit into my Jaguar?

And if not, and I have to go with a Japanese replacement, what is the difference between the two bridges?

Thanks in advance.

It will fit but since the standard Japanese bridge posts are slightly larger there will be a tiny bit more play. Not sure if this makes a difference in practice.
