Will there ever be a time when Fender will start producing a more varied selection of guitars for us lefties?

I would say 2012 has been one of the most frustrating years for me, in terms of some fantastic guitars being released by fender only available to right handed people.

J Mascis is one of my favourite guitarist, so naturally I was so gutted to learn his signature Squier wasn't available.

The next wave of disappointment came with the Pawn Shop series, some truly fantastic looking guitars i'll never be able to enjoy.

Some my say that the Kurt Cobain signatures should be enough, it's a start yes and I thank Fender for producing them, but it's not enough.

With technology being what it is today, I can no longer go along with the excuse of having to alter factory machinery. Why can't Fender at LEAST produce a limited range of lefties, say a 1000? They will ALL sell.

You can order one from the CS (though the prices are prohibitive for many of us).

I second this motion. From a business standpoint it's a tough call and I will flat out state that I love Fender for making lefty guitars period, the more the merrier! I probably would not be playing guitar at all if not for Fender so thank you thank you thank you.

I agree with the praise towards Fender. However surely from a business standpoint even if they just produced a limited amount it would be win/win for both the lefties and fender.

For example they could produce a limited range of a 1000 Jaguars (pawn shop, blacktop etc), ALL of which would surely sell?

They produce Kurt Cobain Jaguars so the machinery is there to do it..

I agree 100% my second guitar was a 1985 fender strat I found it in a pawn shop for 100 bucks Ive always loved fender guitars and Im a hugh Nirvana fan and almost bought both Kurt Cobain guitars last years because I really love Mustangs and Jags was kinda bummed that the lake placied blue stang didnt have matching headstock color.

But to get to the point it would be great if they would release something other than strats and teles I really really really want the Bass IV but I dont think it is gonna have a lefty version and that guts me because I really want one.

Hell yes!

More lefties. Does Fender realise they lose business to smaller brands, simply because they don't up production levels?

There's is also the issue of retailer mentality as well.

I have 4 decent size stores here in Oz. Only one stocks any LH guitars at all, and only ever has 1 Tele and/or strat in stock at a given time. Any colour or price you like, as long as it's the same as the one hanging there.

They tell me, 'lefty's are slow-moving stock'. I point to the wall of 50 guitars, where the same RH ones hanging there as they did 18 months ago, and mention that the one LH MiM and US Tele they did have, only lasted about 6 months.

And they look at me as if I'm nuts. They're the ones who are nuts. How much stock is tied up in 25 US/Mex Strats and about 15 CS/Vintage exotica?

Smile as I read these posts. I'm left handed but play right handed. For a couple of years I've been trying to find a left handed Jag Stang, at a reasonable price, to convert to right hand because I love the reversed look. I understand how inconvenient it can be at times being left handed. I remember all through grade school having desks with only right handed arms. Made it difficult to write and almost impossible to copy from a book. Probably why I have such lousy penmanship.
