hey everyone! just bought a new AVRI Jaguar and absolutly love it. Brilliant sounds on both lead and rythm. I havnt had any problems with it as of yet but the bridge design seems a little frail, and could possibly be a total nightmare for set ups. I did my research only to find that the kurt cobain model has a tune o matic installed stock on it, so would that be the best alternative to the original bridge? I also found a pretty sweet "mastery bridge" online. I need help to make a decision on which one to go with. Any testimonials or advice?? Im a bit offset newbie :?

any info or experience with either/or would be a BIG help!

You might want to check www.offsetguitars.com. Lots of relevant discussions there on this topic.

The Mastery is quite simply amazing but it comes at a price. Not sure if a TOM bridge would be a drop in replacment on an AVRI but the Mastery is.

IMO a Mastery is the price of admission on a Jag or Jazzy. Opinions are greatly divided on the subject.

Some can't live without a Mastery, some say it's a worthless piece of overpriced marketing hype.

You could also try the Mustang or Modified Mustang bridge. They are drop ins.

You really won't have that many issues if you set it up correctly and use 11's or heavier for your strings. They ship with 10's. That is a light as you want to go. And, it's a 24 inch scale, don't let the heavier string gauge scare you. I use 9's on my Strat and Tele and use 11's on my 50th and AVRI. No problems moving back and forth between guitars.

If you want to go with a Buzz Stop, that also keeps the strings in place nicely.

Thanks guys, I think I'm gonna go mastery. I'll keep using ten and elevens till she ships. Aparently the aftermarket bridge is eaisier to set up after instalation. I enjoy taking advantage of the third bridge hence why I was even worried in the first place.

I have a MIM Jazzmaster that buzzes like crazy on the G and B strings. Bought it second hand for dirt cheap and did a full setup on it. Did the "blue" loc-tite on the bridge saddle set-screws, but no luck. Was looking at installing this bridge, but would have to pull the hollow studs, and install the threaded studs to use it. Schaller Roller Bridge sold through StewMac....Just another thought to toss out there too.

Been looking at the roller bridge only because it is easier on the strings when using the trem.
