I'd like to upgrade the pots on my Marauder to get a more gradual sweep. I've read that 250K pots work better with single coils and 500K work better with hum buckers. The guitar has a jazzmaster p'up and a triple bucker p'up.

Would 250K be fine (there's only one tone pot)?
Any suggestions for a capacitor value would be helpful too...

That's quite a rare guitar, so I won't give you any on-the-spot recommendations. But: pots and caps are cheap, experiment and learn.

For a starting point, this guy has some nice how&what vids on pots, caps & other stuff on youtube (thumbs up for these vids):

Thanks for the help! I'll check out the link.

Apologies - I should have specified that it's the new Modern Player Marauder. There are no values on the pots that I can find, but I'm sure your post will help answer my question. I wish I had one of the older ones!

I'm reading that Jazzmasters have 1 Mega Ohm pots, so 250K might be a little light. I'd probably go 500K audio taper CTS pots and a 0.047 mfd orange drop cap and see what happens.

If you don't know what's in your guitar, you can measure with a multimeter. Just put the probes on the lugs of the pot and see how much resistance you get at various positions.
